Canada Day Tips and Traditions
Every July 1st we:
WEAR RED AND WHITE
Tip – If you’re out shopping and you spot some awesome Canada-wear, DON’T DELAY! Just buy it!
Last year, I found the cutest Canada Day shirts that I have ever seen. I didn’t buy them right away and missed out big time…
I still have regrets about this.
Tip – Make your own Canada shirts! It’s simple, fun, and cheap! What a great combination.
These are the shirts that we made a couple years ago. You need a white t-shirt, red paint, and a brush.
GO TO THE PARADE
Tip – Cheer loud. You’ll get more candy that way. Sit in the middle section of the parade route. You’ll get more candy that way.
My logic is this; At the beginning of the parade, the float-people are thinking, “Ok, don’t throw all your candy at once… must save some for the people at the end of the parade.” Once they’ve been going for a while they get candy happy. If you’re sitting at the end of the parade, chances are that most of the floats have run out. So the middle. Sit in the middle.
DO A LITTLE SHOPPING
Tip – Lots of stores will have big Canada Day sales on Canada Day!
I scored some of the cutest things ever from the Gap a few years ago.
PARTY IN THE PARK
Tip – Dress up and show up! All the work is done for ya!
Our community hosts the best party in the park every Canada Day! There’s face-painting, live entertainment, a petting zoo, cotton candy, food, bouncy houses, and so on! This year they’re having an outdoor movie on a big screen!

OOOOOO AND AWWWWW AT THE FIREWORKS
Tip – Find a sweet vantage point AWAY from where the actual fireworks are being set off.
You’ll avoid the post-fireworks traffic and enjoy a more intimate fireworks watching experience.
When I was younger I used to love meeting up with my friends at the park to watch the fireworks on the hill, maybe strategically sitting myself next to a crush to see if we’d end up holding hands. Sometimes we watched them from our backyard on our trampoline. I see the fun in being where the party is, but these days I like to pack up the fam and park the car, sitting in the hatchback bundled in blankets.
I want to hear from YOU! What are some of your Canada Day traditions!?

Andrea and Angie were so kind to invite us to a pre-Canada Day Picnic.
It was SO fun, SO cute, and SO delicious.
