Daphne Grace
When I was pregnant with Leo I was super excited to have the “I’m going into labor moment!!!” When his due-date came and went I was rather distraught. WHAT THE?! Is this baby ever coming? No. No, he wasn’t. I was induced 10 days late with him.
So, finding out we were pregnant again, I wondered, “Hmmmmm. Is my uterus really that awesome of a place to dwell? I guess so because Farrell baby #4’s due date came and went too.
Side note: We decided that we wouldn’t find out the gender this time. Josh thought we were having a boy, he said that he low-key thought we were having a girl. I guess that’s called playing it safe. I thought we were having a girl.
Our preparations to welcome our newest addition included laundering some of our favorite newborn outfits from Leo, Fay and Eden. I ordered a few knotted newborn gowns from Lou Lou & Company – LOVE this company. AND… Josh and I built a bassinet together. The base of the bassinet was found in our attic last fall when Josh renovated it. It swivels! Coolest.
Farrell baby #4 was evicted on July 6th, 2019. Baby girl! Born at 1:13 pm. 9lbs 7oz. It was a scheduled induction that went smoothly for us. After Leo’s birth, I swore to myself that I would
Anastasia? My mind instantly thought that she was trying to tell me that she was from Russia. I don’t think I was on any meds at that point to have had my brain do such a silly thing. So I asked her, “Anastasia!? So you’re from Russia?”
“No. Anesthesia… I’m from Ukraine.”
Anesthesia is not Anastasia. Palm to face. Anyways, she was a goddess. Shout out to her and to the amazing nurses (Hi Ranae!) and of course to my OB. They were all awesome. And Joshy, of course. His dad jokes weren’t the best that day… he must’ve been nervous or something. 😉
My little goose girl must’ve come out of the womb starving. She latched like a charm her first try and nursed for a solid 45 minutes.
Unlike our other babies, we didn’t go into the hospital with certainty in the name department. Naming her was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. She was named something else for about 10 minutes… but I couldn’t commit to it. We left the hospital the next day without having a name chosen for our sweet little munchkin. We settled on one that evening at home. I felt more bonded to our little bundle then I had before. Daphne Grace.
Daphne has the sweetest presence that states “here I am” in the most fitting way. She’s such a perfect little addition to our family. I’ve never had a baby that sleeps so well at night before this little miss – it’s rather life-changing! Singing praises! She loves to be sung to and snuggled. She gets rather cranky when she’s tired. Her smile is beyond the cutest thing ever. She likes to suck on her hands. We love her, we love her, we LOVE HER!
The question I get asked the most is, “How’s Leo doing?”
Leo’s doing great. He only smacked her once — that was when we first brought her home. He likes to snuggle up next to me when I’m holding her on the couch. He’s probably held her more times than Fay and Eden have. They’re not super baby crazy children. They are extremely helpful though! We’ve placed a lot of responsibilities on their little shoulders. Eden and Fay are incredible big sisters, especially to Leo.
We hired the lovely Kelsey (Photography by Kels) to do a lifestyle newborn session for us. I just love that lady. We’ll treasure these <3
