Well Hello November!
Hi! I’m Hannah. I’m the Twinnerpated mom… you haven’t seen me around for quite some time. Maybe you’ve noticed… maybe not. But here I am with a post! And I’ll be playing catch up for the remainder of the year!
As I sit here typing up this post… it feels good to be back in my little corner of the internet!
Today you’re getting our Halloween story. Not that it was anything out of the ordinary… but I want to come back in 20 years and remember how crazy today was… and be able to laugh about it instead of pull my hair out.
I love being festive. I think it’s super fun. I’m not the hugest “Halloween” fan, but I do love dressing up… and I do love candy. So scratch that… maybe I am! My favorite part though is family costumes. They are the best. So imagine my soul face when the girls wanted absolutely nothing to do with family costumes this year.
I tried. I tried hard. BUT! Josh reminded me that Halloween is for kids. So… we did the good? parent thing and let them choose. Leo won’t have much of a say for a few years so I’ll take that. Josh, Leo, August (our puppy – stay tuned for that blog post!!!) went as Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Fay 100% wanted to be Mal from Descendants. (I have yet to see that movie… I don’t even think my kids have seen it) For the longest time, Eden wanted to be Maleficent. Then she changed her mind and was pretty set on Uma… Then she decided that she wanted to be a wolf. I came home with Fay’s “Mal” costume and then guess what? Eden was set on being Uma. Problem. When I got Fay’s costume I checked to see if there was an Uma costume in case Eden changed her mind, which I thought would be the case… but there wasn’t one. And I didn’t have time to order one online. SO who came to the rescue? Grandma Marianne! The girls’ cousin had previously been Uma for Halloween so I crossed my fingers that her costume was still around. Marianne drove 2 hours to make sure that Eden had her Uma costume. Yay!
Which brings us to the day of Halloween. After another rough night with Leo, and only pushing snooze 2 or 3 times for real and 2 or 3 times in my dreams, we got up and got the girls ready for school. It was very fun and exciting until Eden got upset about something and then her makeup had to get fixed… Off they went, running a little behind schedule, but very excited.
Then… Ok, this is getting long, so point form. Cupcakes to school. Windy. Bye-Bye saran wrap. Dollar store for the 50th time this week. Home. Make soup. Pick up kids from school. Itchy wigs. Staticy costume. “Mom, can I be something else.” …stay calm. Discussions. More discussions. Eat dinner. Yum. Finish bear ears. Crazy. Hectic. People starting to Trick Or Treat. Trying to touch up everyone’s make-up. Papa saves the day by being our candy-hander-outer while we leave to trick or treat. PICTURES! Quick! Get pictures!
Then off we went Trick or Treating. And I’m sure we’ll be visiting the dentist very soon.
Thanks for scrolling!
XOXO
