Writing a blogpost this morning was not on my mile-high list of things to do today. Priorities? I juggle them. And… I can’t juggle.
There. Case in point.
Last night whilst making dinner I was pondering something that I had heard recently. A man was talking about some clues to leading a healthy life. He quoted the Bible with a scripture from Genesis 3:19, “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread…”
The “sweat of thy face” implies the value of working for your food. So, I was thinking about how much care and preparation should go into planning a meal to make it healthy and about how much room for improvement I have in this area ect. ect. ect.
Rewind about 2 hours previous, whilst at the grocery store. I caved and bought a case of KD. It’s been months, if not years, since I’ve purchased an entire case of mac and cheese. (No judgement! KD is pretty much a childhood staple)
Back to last night when I was making dinner pondering about healthier eating habits, and so on. I was finishing stirring the cheese into the noodles and sampled a bite. Next thing I new, I was standing over the pot of KD, pretty much shovelling the stuff into my mouth. Then the following thought crossed my mind. “I don’t always eat mac and cheese, but when I do… I eat the entire box to myself.” (FYI I did not eat the entire box to myself…this time)
BAM. I shook my self out of that and remembered how I was JUST pondering eating food by “the sweat of my face.” I had to laugh at myself.
Fay and Eden were in the tub during this time. I asked my cousin Taylor if she’d wash their hair for me. She obliged. I chuckled to myself listening to her as she was now enlisted in the struggle that is bath-time. “Chin up!” She repeated to the girls so she could rinse the shampoo out of their hair. Sigh. It was great.
I had loaded the dishwasher at the beginning of the day and found it very odd that I only had three of our 10-12 plastic plates clean and in the cupboard. “Where the heck are all your plates girls?”
I went on a short jungle safari adventure through the house in search of these endangered species. I found one here and one there and wondered how long that piece of quesadilla had been there.
I slept on my couch for two nights in a row because, now this is embarrassing, my bedroom is disaster zone. We’ve pretty much finished decorating for Christmas and a few of the boxes have ended up in my room instead of the storage room… and yes, there’s laundry sprawled across my bed and so on and so forth.
SO. There you have it. A day in the life of the chaos that reigns. The New Year will be here before you know it. Hmmmm any ideas for some resolutions? I can pick out like 80 from this post alone. HA!
For now, I’ll straighten my crown and continue to reign. One. Day. At. A. Time.
